Ashburton District Council
We are proud to be partnering with the Ashburton District Council as part of their biodiversity strategy. Together we are actioning the objectives of goals three and four.
We are focused on education and enhanced awareness of biodiversity in the district – currently working with 11 schools across the district.
And, we are working together to collaborate and encourage enhanced community participation for the enhancement and protection of local biodiversity.

Thanks to the Ian Glassey Memorial fund we are working with Mayfield and Hinds schools. We are inquiring about their local catchment areas.
- Learning more about the catchment areas and the connecting Hekeo Hinds River. Ki uta ki tai – from the mountains to the sea.
- Looking at the catchment history, present day and the impact we can have on the future.
- Understanding all aspects of the catchment and how things are interconnected.
- Inquiring further into water – what role do bodies of water play, how can we monitor water quality
- Asking questions, finding answers and sharing our knowledge!
